I hadn’t seen this before…no doubt I am one of the last, as usual. It is an article by Dr Ian Wilkinson, the accountable officer for Oldham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), which appeared in Pulse magazine. He describes their approach to public involvement with particular reference to the establishment of a ‘Fairness Commission.’
The Commission’s report can be found here.
Health research, its role, people’s access to it etc., seems implicit in many of the statements in the document, but my quick-read of the report didn’t pick up that research was identified as a priority or on the ongoing agenda. Which is concerning, particularly if this is being repeated elsewhere.
Perhaps someone involved might let us know whether my reading of it is right or wrong. That said, as an exercise in engaging people, I thought it worth sharing.
